CD REVIEW-SOUL SUNDRONE by JAMES BROWN
June 25th 2008 15:20
THE GREAT FOLKS AT HENRY STONE MUSIC HAVE DONE IT AGAIN.
BY THE MID 70'S James' career was heading downhill. In 75' a disco version of Sex Machine didn't set the charts on fire, and by the time this album was done, may thought the the great JB was done. Not that this album is his greatest work, or that it returned him to the top of the charts, it didn't. But Henry Stone (the king of Funk/disco) got James on track with a "discoish/funky quality album. It laid the groud work for a major comeback in the 80's. Although, it's not his greatest work it is a must have. It starts out with "Rapp Payback" a dance sort of up-date to his immortal "Payback" and is a very solid recording from start to finish. I would put this on or near the top of your "next cd to purchase" list. please visit www.henrystonemusic.com This cd will be featured for many weeks on my "Raised On Rock" radio show which will be streaming live on the net starting in August. DETAILS TO FOLLOW.
